Draft 2001 Regional Transportation Plan includes
Bike/Pedestrian Bridge over Highway 1
from Cabrillo College to New Brighton State Beach
In 2000, The Nisene 2 Sea Open Space Alliance submitted an initial request for inclusion of the Cabrillo to New Brighton bike/pedestrian bridge over Highway 1 as a potential project in the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Plan. This bridge is now a potential project in the Draft 2001 Plan that is within projected available funding.
Creation of the bike/pedestrian bridge over Highway 1 (along with acquisition of the Koch Property) will complete the Nisene 2 Sea Open Space Corridor and permit easy access to the Coastal Rail Trail, another project supported by the SCCRTC.
VOICE YOUR SUPPORT for the for bike/pedestrian bridge from Cabrillo College to New Brighton State Beach lands in writing or by attending the public hearings scheduled for July 16, 2001, and August 2, 2001 concerning the SCCRTC 2001 Draft Regional Transportation Plan and the related Draft Environmental Impact Report (materials are on the web at www.sccrtc.org). Written comments are due by August 6, 2001.
